Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief
Cruz Roja works hand-in-hand with the
Mexican military (army and navy) to assist
after natural or man-made disasters. Here in
Cozumel, the most common disaster is a
hurricane. When a hurricane watch is issued,
the Cruz Roja  moves its staff and volunteers
into the facility and puts its relief plan into
action. Blankets, medicines, water and
non-perishable food are brought in. If a
hurricane strikes, the military and national
Cruz Roja will provide additional food, water
and hygiene packages for the local chapter to
distribute. The medical service goes on high
alert.

Helping those in need isn't limited to
disasters. Staffers, the youth division
(Juventud) and volunteers also distribute first
aid supplies and training, food, and
household goods to the needy as well as
guidance and assistance for neighborhoods,
families and individuals who need help with
specific problems.
